The average number of guests at a wedding is 120—and even if only half of those guests buy you a gift, that’s still a lot of thank you notes!

Writing a nice thank you can be difficult, especially when you have an overwhelming number to tackle. To save your tired hand, here are a few templates you can use to quickly write a heartfelt thank you.

For the guest who was a part of your day:

Dear [name],

Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our day. I was so glad to have you as my [bridesmaid/groomsman/attendant/usher/singer/reader]. We had a perfect day and we hope you had a blast too.

Thank you also for your gift of [gift]. We can’t wait to [do something with gift/use it in some way].

Let’s get together again soon!

Love,

[Your names]

For the guest you had a moment with:

Dear [name],

Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our day. You [were burning up the dance floor/saved the day when you…/gave such a nice toast]. We had a blast and you were a huge part of that!

Thank you also for your gift of [gift]. We can’t wait to [do something with gift/use it in some way].

Love,

[Your names]

For the guest you barely spoke to:

Dear [name],

Thank you for helping us celebrate our day! We had a blast and hope you had fun too.

Thank you also for your gift of [gift]. We can’t wait to [do something with gift/use it in some way].

Love,

[Your names]

For the guest who wasn’t there:

Dear [name],

Our day was perfect! We were sorry you couldn’t make it, but we understand and are looking forward to seeing you soon.

Thank you for your gift of [gift]. We can’t wait to [do something with gift/use it in some way].

Love,

[Your names]

Of course, in any handwritten note, personal details never go unnoticed. For example, if your guest is engaged, mention that you’re excited for their turn. If they couldn’t attend due to illness or loss, give them your sympathy. Remember that your guests spent time and money to be part of your day, and they’ll appreciate you thanking them accordingly!
